Background: House of Hush Burlesque is a collective of more than a dozen of Edmonton and Calgary’s most accomplished and popular burlesque performers. House of Hush stands out in the local burlesque scene, which is dominated by an indie, counter-culture vibe. Promoting itself as “Burlesque Showgirls for Hire”, House of Hush provides bespoke burlesque entertainment for corporate events, and also produces exclusive high-end classic burlesque shows, harkening back to the speakeasy era of the 1920s and 30s.
The Design Problem/Opportunity: A professional high-end aesthetic that plays to the speakeasy prohibition visuals of the 1920s and 30s.
The Solution: Copper-gold and black colour palette speaks to Gatsby-era extravagance; the typefaces call back to vintage Absinthe labels; ornate Art Deco curved flourishes bring to mind the curve of a burlesque dancer’s figure.
